For every dollar that you give to the Golden Seagull, we will match your donation up to $300. That means if you bestow $150 on us, the Seagull will collectively spend an equivalent $150 on ourselves for a total of $300.
“I am eternally grateful for the Qdoba and Dog Haus that Marquette University has on its campus, and I want to show that support by spending my money there,” Seagull founder Ian Schrank said. “Also, Caff’s is pretty cool too.”
This has been a rough financial year for Seagull staffers, many of who spent time writing joke articles for the Internet instead of working real jobs As a result, the fund for parties and 3 am food delivery has dropped to dangerously low levels.
Jimmy Starke, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, has borne the brunt of this downturn like few others. After spending 30 dollars on “this sick Matt Heldt Neenah high school jersey,” he has not allowed himself to spend money for a month.
“Your donation would go a long way toward being able to make questionable decisions again,” Starke said.
The challenge will last until the end of the year. Those interested in contributing should put money in an envelope and/or briefcase, write “For the Seagull” on said envelope or briefcase and deposit it in the basement of Johnston Hall next to the radio station. In return, you will get the satisfaction of knowing that one of us is eating Chopstix sesame chicken because of you.
“We have incredibly passionate donors and are confident they will rise to this new inspirational challenge from the Seagull,” Marquette president Michael Lovell said. “The Seagull is leading the way by supporting their love of having money, and we encourage all of our alumni to support their passion too.”
